Circular Innovation Council is a national, not-for-profit, membership-based organization with over 40 years of experience delivering programming that educates and empowers Canadians to take action on the circular economy and its environmental, economic, and social benefits. In concert with our members and partners, we leverage our experience and expertise to deliver on the broad gains inspired by the circular economy through research, policy, programs, and pilots. Our mandate is to accelerate Canada’s transition toward a circular economy by putting concepts into action.

Position Summary

As a key member of our team, the Communications Coordinator will leverage a variety of communications channels, tools, and tactics to support programs, services, resources, and advocacy.

This position will provide the right individual with an opportunity to work with a variety of communications channels and tools with a remote team with extensive expertise.

Reporting to the Director of Communications, this individual will help Circular Innovation Council expand their impact by improving awareness of the benefits of a circular economy as well as engaging with the public and private sector as well as civil society on how they can take action.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience with social media platforms and tools 
  • Ability to create graphics including through use of tools like Canva 
  • Background in tracking and analyzing engagement data including pulling reports from Google Analytics and other social media tools
  • Experience with software such as Constant Contact and WordPress is an asset 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including a proven ability to write effective marketing copy for B2B and B2C audiences 
  • Bilingualism in French is an asset

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the social media calendar and platforms for the organization and its sub brands, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter, with engaging content for multiple community stakeholders 
  • Proactively collate and curate content for distribution across email and social media platforms related to particular issues in the circular economy
  • Follow organizational brand guidelines in all communications
  • Create effective promotional materials including brochures, postcards, emails, and website copy, leveraging best practices for writing and design 
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on traditional and digital media performance for communications campaigns and on key metrics over time, making recommendations for improvement based on the data 
  • Prepare and edit presentations and slide decks for team members 
  • Moderate and assist with hosting webinars including managing software for questions, polls, and screen sharing
  • Other duties as required to provide support to team members in marketing and communication activities
