As part of the development of the City’s Solid Waste Master Plan, an action was recommended to develop a Circular Economy Strategy for the City of Ottawa, that would align with provincial and federal efforts, and be the primary framework and action plan for how Ottawa will work toward its aspirational vision of becoming a Zero Waste city. Priorities include integrating circular economy principles into public procurement frameworks, investigating municipal policy levers, initiatives and actions the City could implement to support the community transition to a circular economy and exploring opportunities to become an innovation hub for circular economy innovations to accelerate industry and community transition to a circular economy.
