Circular Chronicle February 2026

Redefining Ownership: Product as a Service for Sustainable Access

Featuring HP Canada

In this edition, we explore how Product as a Service unlocks long-term value and drives circular innovation. This model shifts the focus from buying products to accessing services. Whether you’re a business, municipality, organization, or individual, Product as a Service offers a practical path to reduce costs, optimize resource use, and advance a circular future!

PROGRAM UPDATES

Food February

Canada’s agriculture and agri-food sector is a global leader, spanning 62.2 million hectares of vast farmland, supporting diverse commodities, and powering strong exports. In just 2024 alone, it contributed $149.2 billion (7% of Canada’s GDP), employing 2.3 million people through major commodities like grains, vegetables, oilseeds, meat, dairy, and processed foods. However, 8-10% of Canada’s GHG emissions come from the sector and approximately 50% of food produced in Canada is lost to waste. Throughout February, we highlighted solutions for creating a more circular food system for Canada across the entire value chain — from food production to waste diversion.

Regenerative Agriculture in Canada Webinar

Last week we hosted our first webinar of 2026, in collaboration with CSA Group. The insightful session discussed the realities and potential of regenerative agriculture and how this holistic farming approach is critical to Canada’s circular economy. We were thrilled to have so many CIC members and stakeholders join us to learn and ask questions about regenerative agriculture and CSA’s upcoming standard. If you missed it, check out the recording below.
