Assessment Shows Service-based Models Deliver Positive Environmental Impact

Against a backdrop of rapid population growth, an expanding global middle class, and increasingly scarce natural resources, the traditional linear “take, make, dispose” business model is no longer viable.

HP has adopted a “full circle” approach to its products and services, shifting to selling services rather than products.

Attend our Waste Auditor Training Course: February 3rd to 6th, 2026

CIC’s Waste Auditor Training Course offers a combination of lectures and workshops offering attendees hands-on experience through case studies, creation of audit plans, and development and application of auditing skills through table-top scenarios and situational exercises.

  • Day 4: Zoom session, 9 am – 1 pm (includes final exam)

Tricentris, la coop

Tricentris has over 25 years of history. It comprises 3 sorting centres, 1 head office, 1 glass micronization plant, and 350 employees. It also includes member municipalities and regional county municipalities (RCMs), serving 2 million citizens. Each year, it sorts and markets approximately 200,000 tonnes of recyclable materials, provides education through various services and awareness activities, manages ecocentres, and funds projects for sustainable communities. 

Sustainable Kingston

Sustainable Kingston is a non-profit organization that was incorporated in 2012. The organization’s purpose is to support the Kingston community in achieving its vision of becoming Canada’s most sustainable city.

Ville de Montréal

Montréal is Québec’s largest city. This urban centre, which is located on an island in the middle of the St. Lawrence Valley, is composed of 19 boroughs. The city offers services across the island of Montréal. Its organizational structure includes political bodies, associate organizations, municipal departments and boroughs. Services to residents are provided by both the city and its boroughs.

Provectus Enterprising Inc.

Provectus was founded with a vision to tackle one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time: food waste. With approximately 40% of post-farm produce never reaching kitchen tables, we recognized the urgent need for a solution that could divert this waste from landfills and transform it into valuable resources.

City of Peterborough

Peterborough, Ontario, is a vibrant independent city on the Otonabee River, known as the gateway to the Kawartha Lakes, blending urban amenities with stunning nature, arts, culture, and a strong heritage conservation focus.

evoco

Evoco is a material innovation company founded to defossilize the global material value chain. Since 2016, we are developing a plant-based technology platform of scalable chemistry and material technologies to help our industry partners detoxify and decarbonize high-performance consumer and industrial products.

Mantle Climate

Mantle Climate is Canada’s leading climate strategy and risk management consultancy for the built environment. They partner with their clients to align business success with climate leadership —specializing in embodied carbon, life cycle assessment, and climate resilience. Their work helps clients manage risk, lead with impact, and stay ahead in a low-carbon future.

GRT Regenerock

GRT’s plant uses a unique tech stack – from mining, wastewater and other industries – to wash and sort excess soils. They remove the impurities, then treat and recycle their water on site in a closed-loop system.

Vio Sustainability

At Vio, Enzo explores the waste management industry and consults organizations on best practices.

Restaurants Canada

Their motivation is to be the ideal workshop to test your new recipes, produce your classics and create innovative solutions to increase your profitability. Whether you want to create dishes for retail sale or to count on a central kitchen for your establishments, your satisfaction is their priority.

City of Greater Sudbury

The City of Greater Sudbury is committed to creating an environmentally healthy and sustainable community. They have many programs and services aimed at protecting the environment.

Nespresso

Their commitment to sustainability touches every step of our value chain—from responsible coffee sourcing and the impact on communities, to the recycling of our aluminum capsules and climate change prevention actions.
