New Pilot Project: Advancing IC&I Food Waste Diversion in Regina

Circular Innovation Council is proud to announce our partnership with the City of Regina to co-lead an innovative pilot project focused on improving the management and recovery of surplus food and organic waste in the Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional (IC&I) sector.

Set to launch in Summer 2025, this project will pilot a cooperative service model in the city to help Regina’s businesses and multi-family properties divert food waste from landfill, reduce greenhoiuse gas emissions, and support community food recovery efforts. Through shared servicing routes and cost-sharing strategies, the pilot will test scalable solutions that align with Regina’s upcoming IC&I organics by-law and broader sustainability goals.

Together with municipal and community partners, we’re turning food waste into a valuable resource while laying groundwork for a more circular food economy.
